Mon., April 21, 7 p.m.: "Rhode Island's Breeding Marine Birds," a lecture by Richard Ferren, professor of life sciences at Berkshire Community College, sponsored by Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation, in the Vanderbilt Amphitheater, Doubletree Hotel, Goat Island, Newport. Wed. and Thurs., April 23 and 24: The Third Annual Tree Plantings for Earth Day/Arbor Day, at Hope, Clayville and North Scituate Elementary Schools and Scituate Middle/High School, sponsored by Scituate Conservation Commission. Call 647-2547.

Fri. and Sat., April 25 and 26: The Annual Earth Day Seedling Sale, sponsored by the Northern RI Conservation District, 17 Smith St., Greenville. Profits help support local conservation efforts. Call 949-1480.

Sat., April 26, 1-3 p.m.: "Restoring Grasslands at Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge." Ron Flores, USFWSwildlife biologist, will speak at the Cross Mills Public Library, Rt. 1A, Charlestown. The event is sponsored by the RIWild Plant Society. Pre-register: $3 member, $1 child. Call 949-0195.

Sun., April 27, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.: EarthFest '97, Concert Earth, an environmental fair, will take place at the Roger Williams Park Casino and Bandstand areas, Elmwood Ave., Providence. Non-profit organizations and environmental agencies will present 75 exhibits, featuring recycled products, books, wastewater treatment devices, and much more. Performers include the James Montgomery Band, saxophonist Edward M. Ferris, the Fourth Street String Band, the Diplomats, and the Mount Hope High School Jazz Combo. The SeaBabies, five life-size characters, will present a 30-minute environmental awareness show for children. There will also be a food court, games, canoeing, workshops, and presentations. The event is sponsored by the RIEarth Day Committee, the ECRIEducation Fund, and the Department of Environmental Management/OSCAR (Ocean State Cleanup And Recycling). Call 277-3434, ext. 4435.

Sun., April 27, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Manville River Access Point Clean-up. Meet on the Cumberland side of the Blackstone River in Manville. Sponsored by the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. Call 762-0440.
