BANE
THE NOTE
EQUALVISION
Stars graphics

What separates Bane from the rest of the Boston hardcore pack is Aaron Bedard, a lead singer who cantillates in clearly worded hollers rather than the usual unintelligible wails. Other than that, The Note delivers everything you’d expect from a veteran band: full-figured guitars, lots of fast triplet-note-crunched starts and stops, impassioned breakdowns, and those dominating vocals. The ethos and the moodiness that personify hardcore are well represented in "Hoods Up," with its references to loud guitars and loud ideals, and "Pot Committed," with its rhetoric about fraying relationships and asshole contests. It took four years for Bane to lay down these 10 tracks, but the results speak for themselves: 40-plus minutes of raw and unrestrained Boston hardcore.
