Diane Lane is lovelorn divorcée Sarah, whose sister, in a fit of contrived helpfulness, posts Sarah’s profile on an on-line dating site. Little hilarity ensues as Sarah goes on numerous bad dates; then she meets Jake (John Cusack) after his friend finds her photo. Director Gary David Goldberg makes it painfully clear that Jake and Sarah have submitted to on-line dating only to please others, but it hardly matters, since there’s nothing remotely interesting about either of them. And though Lane and Cusack can be appealing, they flounder here. Goldberg pulls out every romantic-comedy cliché for a movie that you should see only if that’s the only way you can get someone to go out with you.
