As part of the configuration of an entirely locally based staff, radio veteran Jay Ferrara will launch WWRX’s (103.7 FNX) new Providence-based morning show on Friday, October 31. Ferrara most recently hosted nights at WAAF in Boston, attracting high ratings in the Providence market, and he’s no stranger to Rhode Island listeners. "I’m very excited to have put together the final piece of the puzzle for WWRX 103.7 FNX," says program director Kevin Mays. "Jay is a pit bull who possesses an unbelievable amount of passion and commitment to the success of the station." With the launch of Ferrara’s morning show, WWRX will complete the restructuring of its programming lineup, creating an all Providence-based staff with Bailey, Birdsey, and Bryan Slater. WWRX (103.7 FNX), an independently owned and operated station, is part of a consortium of four alternative radio stations owned by the Boston-based Phoenix Media/Communications Group, which also owns the Providence Phoenix, Boston Phoenix, and Portland Phoenix. The other stations are WFNX-FM (103.7) in Boston, WFEX-FM (92.1 FNX) in Manchester, New Hampshire, and WPHX-FM (92.1 FNX) in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. WWRX, which has shown dramatic growth in its two years in Providence, currently ranks second for the highly coveted 18-34 male demographic. |
